Put Your Emergency Info on ICE

Officials from the Euless Fire Department are encouraging citizens to put emergency contact information on ICE, which stands for "In Case of Emergency" and keep it with them at all times so that a relative or close friend can be contacted quickly in the event of an emergency.

After the recent international events, first responders realized that most citizens do not carry emergency information with them. If a person is unconscious, we may need to contact someone to gain critical health information about him or her.

Citizens can keep this information with them in several ways:

  • Store two or more emergency phone numbers under "ICE" in your cell phone address book; first responders will recognize this common term as your emergency contact numbers. For example, you might store your first contact as ICE1 Dave, if Dave is the first person who should be notified in an emergency.
  • If you do not carry a cell phone with you, keep a business-size card in your purse or wallet under the heading ICE or In Case of Emergency.
  • Wear a medical necklace or ID band that contains critical health and emergency information.
